For everything that was written in the past, was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4)
“Let the children come!” (Matthew 19: 14) We encourage all families to share their faith with their children. The strength that children receive from knowing that God is always with them lasts a lifetime! Although parents are the primary educators of their children in faith formation, our team of 200 volunteer teachers want to partner with them and help the children become strong disciples of Jesus Christ. This is done through weekly religious education classes, using an approved published curriculum, and through the sharing of the Eucharist at the 9:00am Sunday Family Liturgy for young Catholics and the 6:00pm Sunday Liturgy for teens. In addition, we are happy to accommodate those with special needs or circumstances.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, Grades 1-8
The Religious Education ministry is involved in instructing over 1200 public school children in grades 1-8 in the Catholic Faith, including preparation for the Sacrament of Baptism, First Holy Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation. Our volunteer teachers share their faith, their experiences and their love for God with these enthusiastic young people. Students also participate in large group activities, including community building and prayer activities.
Participation: 1 hour classes, Sunday through Wednesday, September through April.

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION, Grades 9-10
This two-year Confirmation preparation strives to help young adults grow in their love for God and God’s people in the community of faith. The hope is that by they, as young adults, will want to commit to being disciples of Jesus Christ throughout their lives. 9th Graders study, more deeply, the core Catholic beliefs as stated in the Nicene Creed and they grow in their discipleship by serving the poor and needy of the community. 10th Graders’ curriculum focuses on the meaning and the gifts of the Sacrament of Confirmation. An overnight retreat is the highlight of their faith formation.
Participation: 12 Classes on Sunday evenings, September—March, including the 6pm Sunday liturgy plus special events throughout the year.
YOUTH MINISTRY, Grades 6-12
Let no one look down on you because of your youth,
but be a continuing example for those who believe;
in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. (1 Timothy 4)
Our teens, YOU, are not merely the future of the Church but are the Church today. We want to walk with you. We want to share OUR faith with you. We want to support you. We want to encourage you. We want to have fun with you. We welcome you here, at St. Michael Parish. We build community through service, prayer and, of course , fun! Here is a sample of activities we hold weekly or monthly:
Pizza and Prayer (High School)
Summer of Service (Middle School and High School)
Thursday Connections (Middle School and High School)
We know friends relate to friends best, so we developed a program for those who want to be faith leaders after celebrating Confirmation. You apply your experience from Religious Education and put your faith to work by helping the wider teen community grow in their faith through service projects, confirmation classes, retreats and more!
