Liturgical Ministries
"Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the
Lord our Maker..." (Psalm 95:6)
Saint Michael Parish altar servers are young people (grade 4 and older) who assist parish priests in the celebration of
the Mass.
Opportunity to participate: One Mass per month.

The mission of the Eucharistic Ministers is to assist the priests of the parish with the distribution of Holy Communion at all liturgies. This ministry helps people come to know and truly believe that when they say, "Amen" to "The Body of Christ," they are truly saying, "Yes, I am totally united with Christ and humanity and
my whole being will love and serve Christ."
Opportunity to participate: One Mass per month. Opportunities for training and renewal, too. Also see "Outreach" for more EM opportunities.

Often the first contact newcomers and strangers have with St. Michael Parish family, this team has an incredible
responsibility to be welcoming and helpful to all who enter the doors of the church.
Opportunity to participate: One Mass per month or weekly.

"Along with the deacon, the priest, and the bishop, the lector is entrusted with the crucial task of making the
word of God come alive by proclaiming it for the Christian assembly." This excerpt from The Workbook for
Lectors and Gospel Readers perfectly describes the role of the lector.
Opportunity to participate:
Adults: One Mass per month. Junior Lectors: 5th grade to High School (9:00 and
6PM Mass only). Training and renewal opportunities are available.

The liturgy team tries to bring people into closer union with God and thus to one another. This team initiates
enhancements to our liturgies, especially during Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter from the simple decor and worship-style of Lent to the joyous strains of the Gloria at Christmas. The Family Mass team offers ideas
for priest’s homilies.
Opportunity to participate: Quarterly meetings and participation in the liturgies.

The goal of the music ministry is to lead people, through music, into becoming one body and fully alive in
Christ. St. Michael’s music ministry, with its cantors, adult and children choirs, contemporary music groups,
youth music ministry and varied instrumentalists, serve at all weekend liturgies, as well as at special events.
Opportunity to participate: All are welcomed. Practice varies according to the group of choice.

This ministry honors St. Martha, patron saint of housekeepers, by volunteering to clean, dust, and polish the
altar, pews, and sacristy of the church.
Opportunity to participate: One hour a week, usually Mondays at 9:30 AM.

This group is responsible for the decoration and appearance of the sanctuary, washing and ironing linens, taking
care of liturgical cloths and vessels, and preparing for the different liturgical seasons and special events.
Opportunity to participate: Once per month and/or special events. Choose one of the task.

In addition to being welcoming and helpful, this ministry is responsible for seating parishioners if needed, collecting
the offertory, and working with the Eucharistic Ministers to bring the Eucharist to those who are not
ambulatory.
