Catholic Prayers
Sign of the Cross
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our Father
Our Father. who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us
this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those
who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. Amen.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed
are you among
women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother
of God, pray for us, sinners, now and at the hour of
our death. Amen.
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the
Holy Spirit. As it
was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen.
Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven
and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was
conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He
descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended
into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from
thence he shall come
to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy
Spirit, the holy
Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness
of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
Amen.
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was
it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help,
or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired
with this
confidence, we turn to you, O Virgin of virgins, our
Mother. To
you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O
Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not despise our
petitions, but
in your mercy hear and answer us. Amen.
The Rosary
The prayers listed above are also a part of the
Catholic rosary. The rosary consists of twenty
decades. Each decade focuses upon a particular mystery
in the life of Christ and/or his Blessed Mother. It
is customary to say five decades at a time, while meditating
upon one mystery each decade. Begin at the
cross with the Apostle’s Creed, pray the Glory Be and
the Lord’s Prayer on the large beads, the Hail Mary
on the groups of small beads, and end with the
Memorare.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended
You and I
detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven
and the
pains of hell, but most of all because they offend You,
my God,
who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly
resolve,
with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do
penance,
and to amend my life. Amen.
Prayer Before Meals (Grace)
Bless us O Lord, and these your gifts, which we are
about
to receive, from your bounty, through Christ, our
Lord. Amen.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Breathe into me Holy Spirit, that all my thoughts may
be holy.
Move in me, Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be
holy. Attract
my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is
holy.
Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that
is holy.
Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.
